Weak child custody rules leads to alleged kidnapping claims

Most California parents who share their kids with former partners or spouses strictly follow their child custody schedules. Often times those schedules are mandated by family law courts and carry with them significant penalties when their terms are violated. While some parents like having specific guidelines governing their rights and visitation timetables with their kids, others prefer loose arrangements with more flexibility.

High income divorce is a reality for many older couples

Divorce can look very different depending upon the circumstances of the involved couple. For California couples without children at home or significant wealth to their names, divorce can be a relatively straightforward process of dividing personal assets and signing legal forms. For others, divorce can be a complicated negotiation of separating vast investments, multiple real estate properties and extensive assets worth considerable sums of money.

Use a family law mediator as an alternative to divorce court

Almost everyone in California knows someone who has gone through a messy divorce. With nearly half of all American marriages ending in legal dissolution, it is practically impossible to meet someone whose family or group of friends has not been affected by divorce. Stories about divorce are rarely positive or hopeful, even when the separating spouses exhibited little animosity toward each other.

Can I garnish my ex's wages to fulfill our spousal support order?

California courts may award spousal support when couples go through divorce. Like orders for child support, spousal support orders must be fulfilled as they are mandated by courts of law. When individuals fail to pay their exes pursuant to court orders, spouses expecting support checks may find themselves facing tough financial times.

Parents will face penalties for not paying child support

Child support is a legal commitment that many California parents must fulfill to take care of their offspring. When parents do not live together or have gone through divorce, non-custodial parents often find themselves with child support mandates to continue to provide for their kids. However, when parents cannot or do not pay their ordered obligations they can face serious legal penalties.
